PLEASE GET ON ITUNES AND GET THE WORD OUT!!!

PLEASE WRITE A REVIEW ON ITUNES and tell the world why they should download this amazing album!!!

“The Rise – EP” is a celebration of resurrection life! It is a reminder of the victory Jesus won over Death and what that means for us now and forever! This EP is intentionally being released before Easter.  However, this project is a 365 day reminder that, “new life is BREAKING OUT” because Christ has overcome!!! LET’EM KNOW!!!

Now we wouldn’t have an EP to release if it weren’t for the amazing support of so many!!! Since this release is digital only I wanted to post album credits for the EP right here on my blog!!! Here are some of the people that made this record possible.

CH LA 2013

Three years ago, when I started writing the song “We Cry Holy”, I was deeply moved by the “call of Isaiah” found in Isaiah 6:1-8. This amazing encounter with God forever changed Isaiah in person and purpose. I wanted to write a song that would cause people to be in awe of a Holy King, be changed by a redeeming Savior, and be commissioned by the Risen Lord.

I had written the chorus, verse 1, and a bridge at first. It worked and definitely had some cool moments, but I did not feel like it was complete. After I would play it, Kelley and I would often look at each other and think, “it’s not quite finished”. Continue Reading…

THE GIVING AWAY

THE DREAM Aria Joy

I had pictured it in my mind a thousand times.

I would wake with a lump in my throat, happy that she had finally found “the one”, and broken hearted that my little redheaded angel, lovingly known as “sister”, would no longer be found in the crib but all grow’d up, in the arms of her love.

I would spend the day reminiscing of times when she was a baby. I would think about when we brought her home, the look on her brothers faces when they first laid eyes on her, and the many family trips we took together. I would be overwhelmed with emotion and probably be a crying mess, because that’s what having a little girl had done to me.

I would shake a little as I put on my tuxedo. I would rehearse the steps for the father/daughter dance in my mind. I would be left breathless when seeing her in her wedding gown for the first time. I would savor every measured step, with her hand in mine, as we walked down the aisle.

Her groom had come; it would be time to give her away.

Today marks the one-year anniversary when our baby girl went to be with Jesus.

It’s been quite a year.

We miss her everyday.

We still cry everyday.

But this year also holds a testimony.  A testimony of strange joy.  Joy that won’t be outdone by this world’s greatest pain.  A testimony of comfort.  Comfort from the One who knows what its like to watch a child die. A testimony of faithfulness.  Faithfulness that holds us even when we feel like we can’t hold on.  A testimony of hope.  Hope with scarred hands who holds out a future with no tears or sorrow, a future shared with our daughter.

A Song for Our Song

April 2, 2012 — 9 Comments

Today we celebrate the 1yr birthday of our precious Aria Joy, as she now celebrates in the presence of her Heavenly Father. One of the main ways God has comforted us through Aria’s departure from earth has been through song; which is fitting that her name means “beautiful melody of joy”.

We could think of no better way to honor “our sweet song” than to share a song God has inspired us to write out of this season of grief, longing, and awe of the grace, love, and majesty of God.

Isn’t She Lovely!

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the one and only Aria Joy Owens!!!

A few short months ago when Kelley and I were at the doctor’s office for the much anticipated “is it a boy or girl” visit, I remember looking at the ultrasound, realizing we were having a girl, and saying, “I’m not ready to be mush”. Well, ready or not…mush.

I love my boys!!! I love wrestling with them, dancing with them, kissing them, tickling them till they turn beet red. I feel so honored and excited to train up two young champions that will love God, be great husbands, and great dads (in Jesus name).
