PLEASE WRITE A REVIEW ON ITUNES and tell the world why they should download this amazing album!!!
“The Rise – EP” is a celebration of resurrection life! It is a reminder of the victory Jesus won over Death and what that means for us now and forever! This EP is intentionally being released before Easter. However, this project is a 365 day reminder that, “new life is BREAKING OUT” because Christ has overcome!!! LET’EM KNOW!!!
Now we wouldn’t have an EP to release if it weren’t for the amazing support of so many!!! Since this release is digital only I wanted to post album credits for the EP right here on my blog!!! Here are some of the people that made this record possible.
What’s good?! We are so thrilled to see how many amazing people have backed our worship project!!! A couple weeks ago we got to introduce one of the new songs from “The Fall” EP at church and the response was incredible! We are convinced more than ever that God is going to use these songs in an amazing way!
As we move closer to ourKICKSTARTER deadline I wanted to communicate more of the vision and expectation behind “The Rise” & “The Fall”. The video below offers a look into part 1 of the 2 EP project, “The Rise”.
Please check it out and join us in making this project a reality!
Three years ago, when I started writing the song “We Cry Holy”, I was deeply moved by the “call of Isaiah” found in Isaiah 6:1-8. This amazing encounter with God forever changed Isaiah in person and purpose. I wanted to write a song that would cause people to be in awe of a Holy King, be changed by a redeeming Savior, and be commissioned by the Risen Lord.
I had written the chorus, verse 1, and a bridge at first. It worked and definitely had some cool moments, but I did not feel like it was complete. After I would play it, Kelley and I would often look at each other and think, “it’s not quite finished”. Continue Reading…
Wow…what an incredible time in Austin, TX. Once again God did that whole “let me draw you in with my loving kindness, redeem & transform you by the power of My Son, and empower you to change the world by My Spirit” thing. It was awesome to watch God moving on students from all over the great Republic of Texas.
As always, it was a blast getting to work with the regional worship team made up of worship leaders and musicians from Austin, Abilene, San Marcos, Dallas, Longview, and Midland. We had a blast worshipping together as well as writing perhaps the greatest personal theme song ever for one of our beloved members (video on that later).
With worship being such an integral part of Campus Harvest let alone LIFE, I wanted to post the song pool that we used for the L.A., Jax, and Austin conferences so that those who attended could go get these amazing songs and get started on their worship library or add them to an already existing one.
This week I’m super stoked (yep…I said stoked) to be in Austin, TX for Campus Harvest. Last year was amazing and the expectation level going into this year is nuts.
Wednesday was an air travel day for me, as I journeyed to the next Campus Harvest location. Much of it was spent waiting in long lines, observing people pretending not to observe other people, and sitting extremely close with John “Lil John” Lumpkin in seats that were not meant for “full figured” people.
At some point I will probably need to devote an entire blog series to my “Adventures with John ‘Lil John’ Lumpkin”. He is kind of like having a character from an 80’s sitcom with you at all times…if that character were an 75yr old black man…trapped in a 27yr old body…with a voice like rolling thunder…that spoke in riddles…who just happens to be the nastiest drummer you ever heard. You know…THAT guy.
Anywho, the highlights of my day were the two bookends…a baby and bacon (the whole Battlestar Galactica thing was purely for alliteration purposes and a nod to The Office…of course).
First of all, yesterday was my little man Judah’s (aka Cubby…aka LionO) 6 month birthday! I know it may seem kinda silly to be so amped about 6 months, but given that our baby girl Aria passed away just shy of the 6 month mark it’s made it more significant than ever. Life with Cubby has felt so surreal up to this point. I love holding him, kissing him, and making him do that unbelievably cute squeal/laugh.
However, I’ve often had the hardest time picturing him beyond Aria’s age. It was almost like I had internally constructed some kind of safety net that wouldn’t let me imagine him past a certain point in case “anything happened”.
IT’S GOING DOWN…TONIGHT!!! Campus Harvest Southeast is kicking off tonight in Jacksonville, FL!!! The team at Southpoint Community Church and Campus Harvest team have been working tirelessly to prepare for the students that will arrive tonight for this amazing encounter. Yesterday the regional worship team arrived and rehearsed most of the day…the atmosphere is being set.
Again, if you haven’t registered or you’re still on the fence, in the words of James Brown, you need to “GET UP OFF OF THAT THANG”…and COME!
One of the great reasons to come is RHEMA SOUL!
juanlove, Butta P., K-Nuff
Rhema Soul is a next level hip hop trio comprised of “juanlove”, “Butta P”, and “K-Nuff”; based out of South Florida but making waves nationally and across the globe. They come with a perfect blend of heart provoking life challenging lyrics, hot beats, and memorable hooks that will make you wanna sing em over and over again (especially if you have a 5 and 3yr old that are addicted to them).
With a combination of creativity, fearless artistry, relentless hustle, and the favor of God they have steadily risen above the crowded atmosphere of MC’s into a class of their own.
Not only will they be performing LIVE TONIGHT at the Campus Harvest after party but they will also join our “Guerrilla Artistry” panel discussion where we’ll discuss the use of creativity for Kingdom impact and cultural change.
Check out this video from Rhema Soul and make sure you come out!!!
As previously mentioned, I am very excited about Campus Harvest in Jacksonville this weekend. Two of the reasons I am particularly pumped about this year are JohnnySwim and Rhema Soul. Both of these musical groups have been taking their musical scenes by storm and doing so for the glory of God. Over the next two days I’m gonna give you a glimpse of what you can look forward to.
JohnnySwim is comprised of the amazing husband and wife duo, Abner and Amanda Ramirez. I first had the priviledge of connecting with Abner, a Jacksonville native, several years back in Nashville, TN. He had moved to Nashville pursuing music, while God was really pursuing him. As you would imagine, God got His man. For a season of my time in Nashville we lived in the same house and I got to watch God working in and through him first hand. Then God really rocked his world by blessing him with his amazing wife Amanda.
The two of them have a sound together that I quite frankly find unfair (I’m still processing my covetousness). However, the sound they bring is so much deeper than the music itself. There is a purity of heart and a richness of soul that comes across in each vocal phrase. Though many of their original songs would most likely be considered “mainstream”, their music carries the life of God all over it.
I’m excited to say that this weekend JohnnySwim will be playing at our after party, speaking on our panel of creatives for the seminar “Guerrilla Artistry”, as well as joining our worship team throughout the weekend.
